Global Mediacom Will Collaborate With Nokia Siemens Networks To Launch Mobile TV In First Half 2008
PT Global Mediacom Tbk (Mediacom), together with Nokia Siemens Networks ("NSN") today announced a joint collaboration to launch a commercial broadcast mobile TV service in Indonesia, based on Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld (DVB-H) technology, in the first half of 2008.
The strategic partnership is the biggest DVB-H agreement signed by Nokia Siemens Networks lobally, and this underscores its leadership in real business solutions including professional services, mobile technology and innovations. As a complete solutions partner, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide consulting to maximize the ability to reach and deliver compelling content to early adopters of broadcast mobile TV.
Nokia Siemens Networks Indonesia is responsible for the end-to-end systems and services, which will include consulting, implementation of the entire broadcasting solution and network, systems integration and the relevant business applications. Global Mediacom is also in discussions with Nokia to provide DVB-H integrated devices such as the Nokia N77, and work with Nokia Siemens Networks on joint marketing activities to ensure service adoption by Indonesian consumers.

This step towards Digital Mobile TV is in line with Mediacom’s strategy to expand its media platforms to accommodate GSM mobile users, which is currently estimated to reach more than 90 million subscribers and is still growing significantly. Mediacom will also launch similar service for CDMA mobile and fixed wireless users as well as viewers in moving vehicles to eventually capture all potential subscribers in the Indonesian market. This Digital Mobile TV can also serves as additional distribution platforms for its content resources. Additionally, it further proves Mediacom’s innovative ability as market leader and trendsetter.
